Job Description: The Department of Architecture & Interiors at Drexel University seeks applicants for the tenured position of Department Head commencing in September 2010. Unusual in structure but effective and highly respected, the Department seeks an individual that will value its uniqueness but can also generate initiatives that respond to changes in design pedagogy and professional practice.
Qualifications The position requires a professional degree, professional registration and significant experience in teaching, design, practice, research, and/or scholarship that would merit appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure. Applicants for this position also must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills. Specialized expertise in areas such as sustainability, historic preservation, urban design, fund-raising, international practice or education, building technology, etc. will be taken into consideration by the Search Committee.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include: the financial and academic management of the Department of Architecture & Interiors; representing the Department within the university and the larger design communities; oversight of Program Directors and other faculty; some teaching of studios and/or seminars; assorted committee assignments.
