The Embassy Suites - Palmdale California sets the standard as the best hotel in Palmdale. The Embassy Suites is a 150 new-construction, All-Suite hotel with first class meeting and conference space, Full Service food and beverage outlets, fitness center, and swimming pool located in Antelope Valley just south of the Antelope Valley Mall off I-138 and 14 in Lancaster County. We are searching for a Chief Engineer who will be responsible for the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Oversees the maintenance of the major hotel mechanical systems, including electrical, HVAC, television and satellite, elevators, plumbing, fire and safety procedures.
* Evaluates vendors with General Manager and selects vendors that are reliable, honest and provide good value for their price.
* Maintains both the exterior and interior of the hotel, including painting, cleaning, aesthetic repairs and additions.
* Oversees the maintenance of exterior flowers and plants by both outside vendors and hotel colleagues.
* Schedules repairs and maintenance with the General Manager so as not to interfere with hotel operations.
* Oversees ongoing and emergency repairs requires to keep the hotel and restaurant/banquet areas in a marketable condition at all times.
* Takes primary responsibility for safety and fire training of managers and oversees the training of all colleagues in emergency and safety procedures.
* Acts as the Safety Program coordinator
* Maintains and updates the MSDS sheets to insure the safety of colleagues using hazardous chemicals.
* Seeks out cost reduction methods, which do not negatively impact guest's perceptions of the hotel.
* Keeps maintenance overtime to a minimum, while ensuring adequate maintenance coverage for the hotel as well as obtain prior approval form from the GM when overtime is needed.
* Is available at all times to respond to emergencies at all times as needed by phone or in person.
* Troubleshoots maintenance problems and determines when to call for outside repairs.
* Analyzes costs in terms of supplies and labor needed to complete specific projects.
* Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment so as to increase efficiency of work.
* Monitors work performed by outside vendors to insure compliance with safety requirements and local ordinances as well as insuring all Certificates of Insurance or on property prior to beginning of any job.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
*Directly oversees 1-3 employees
* Plan and organize work of staff, communicate goals, and schedule employees to ensure proper coverage
* Ensure all staff are properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their respective job duties
* Educate/train employees on current safety issues to ensure compliance with all federal state and local laws and safety regulations
* Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
* Maintain and repair the interior and exterior of buildings, hotel rooms and contents
* Ensure the execution and achievement of the hotel's preventive maintenance program goals
* Monitor budget and control expenses within all areas of the department
* Establish and maintain procedures to: (1) ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc., (2) replenish supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner, and (3) to minimize waste
* May be responsible for determining the security requirements necessary to ensure that hotel property, employees, and guests are protected against theft, crime, and other hazards
* May assist with other duties as assigned and may serve as
