Job Location: Odessa , TX Cash Compensation: Industry Type: Electrical Contractors Job Description: Electric utility construction contractor based in West Texas is seeking a Controller who is professional, proactive, detail-oriented, energetic and not afraid to get involved and roll up their sleeves. This individual will play a key role in the continued development and success of our company. This position supports the CFO and will be responsible for managing all of the day-to-day accounting. Ensuring accuracy in our financial reporting is a MUST, so a solid understanding of construction accounting is necessary to be successful in this position. This position needs someone who is very organized, has a strong attention to detail, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is a self-starter who is willing to accept responsibility and ownership for their function within the company. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Handle the monthly closing and consolidated financial statement preparation • Manage, update, maintain and ensure integrity of Timberline accounting software • Manage fixed asset accounting with FAS fixed asset software • Manage, mentor and train accounting staff of 3-4 employees • Prepare and file all bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax returns • Research and ensure corporate compliance when beginning projects other states • Manage and/or prepare and file all tax and regulatory filings • Prepares GL entries and reconciles and maintains GL accounts and research GL issues • Assist with implementing policies, procedure and internal controls • Assist with preparation of financial statement forecasts and annual budgets • Assist with information compilation and research during audit engagements • Manage cash flow and vendor payment process • Ensure field management has accurate job cost reports and work with field management to refine this reporting process • Interface with field management to ensure accurate and up-to-date WIP and job cost information Requirements • Strong technical accounting skills • Timberline software experience STRONGLY PREFERRED • Advanced MS Office capabilities, very strong with Excel • 5+ years experience with construction accounting • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting • CPA designation not required, but candidates with CPA will be given preference Company Description: Our Mission – to be the contractor-of-choice for customers seeking energy solutions in the complex and ever-changing energy marketplace.
