Northrop Grumman Information Systems, located in Washington, DC, has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer, Environmental Business. Position focus will be on business development projects relating to weather and climate products, technologies, or services. Assesses engineering approach alternatives and converts customer requirements into total system solutions consistent with technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost, risk, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Develops white papers and demonstration capabilities to shape new business opportunities, and to enhance NGC-customer relationships. Excellent oral and written communications skills are essential, as position supports business development initiatives focused on expanding NGIS environmental business with Government civil agency customers. This position reports directly to Director, Environmental Business Development, and preferably, will be based in the Washington DC area. Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global aerospace company; moderate travel will be required. The following are the basic qualifications for this position: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (eg Comp Sci, EE, Aero, MechE), or a related field and 9+ years experience. Must be a senior, multi-disciplinary Engineer with at least 9+ years experience in systems engineering, analysis, and design, including at least 3-5 years working on environmental systems or programs. Experience with SOA (Service Oriented Architecture). Experience needed with NASA or NOAA weather climate systems. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to interact/coordinate with Government customers and peers across multiple locations. Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a secret level security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The following are assets for this position: 3-5 years experience in commercial or government weather systems development, including a firm understanding of meteorological/climatological modeling systems and environmental data/products. Hands-on experience in: developing and fielding operational systems, developing/validating data analysis algorithms or models (integrating them into production environments), and remote sensing of environmental parameters. 2+ years of Business Development Systems Engineering experience. 3-5 years Web based service oriented architectures, technologies, standards (including OGC standards), and development. 2+ years of Government Civil Agency (eg, FAA, NOAA, NASA) operational or integration experience. Advanced Degree, Systems Engineering or a related field. Knowledge of, and experience in, the federal acquisition process.
