Job Location: Norcross , GA Cash Compensation: Industry Type: Construction Recruiters Job Description: Position Summary Responsible for managing the organization’s engineering function, providing technical guidance and ensuring the sound use of engineering procedures and standards. Key Responsibilities * Manage the Engineering Department to include allocating work assignments, managing personnel development and training, and maintaining the department’s budget including capital expenditure, expenses, and work force utilization. * Implementation of product development from the beginning concept to testing and full production. Reviews all engineering solutions if they constitute new designs. * Organizes engineering staff to accomplish goals efficiently and authorizes recruitment of additional personnel as required. Manages engineering hours budgets. * Selects, reviews and develops outside engineering capacity to support project and developmental activities. * Coordinates engineering deliverables. * Monitors progress of projects, confers with project engineers, and reviews reports to see that development is progressing according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines. Ensures projects are integrated and well-managed. Maintains engineering schedule. * Develops and approves technical risk analysis for prospective projects. * Act as a technical voice for projects. * Establish opportunities to harmonize with other business units. * Develops the engineering teams’ capabilities in order to support the business and achieve engineering objectives. * May perform complex engineering calculations. * Conducts performance testing. * Responsible for technical specification and quality compliance within engineering. * Develops and maintains central engineering and graphics standards. * Develops and maintains mechanical component designs for each product. * Keeps abreast of technologies used by the company and industry to remain current and prepared for technology changes within the work environment. * Participate in industry and other professional networks to ensure awareness of social, economic and other trends that may affect the business or direction of the company’s initiatives, policies and programs. * Develops quality processes for Engineering. * Seek ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Adheres to quality standards. * Adhere to all Company policies, safeguard the company's interests and act in an ethical and legal manner as well as report all violations of Company policies and procedures to appropriate management. * Reports to chief operating officer on a regular basis. Works closely with officer to establish long-range operating goals and expansion. * Performs other related activities as requested. Minimum Qualifications Education/Certification: * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Master’s degree preferred. * Certified Professional Engineer * Membership in a relevant professional association Required Knowledge: * Proficiency with MS Office Software and Lotus Notes. SAP experience preferred. * Requires broad knowledge of Company products. * Ability to develop business plans. Experience Required: * Minimum 15 years of experience in increasingly complex managerial positions with new combustion technologies and applications (circulating fluidized bed, bubbling fluidized bed, biomass, flue gas cleaning, etc). * Experience with ISO 9001:2000 preferred. * Proven track record. Skills/Abilities: * Ability to hire, train, motivate and effectively manage personnel in order to leverage staffing strength and accomplish goals. * Strong communication skills, written and verbal; demonstrate group presentation skills. * Ability to work in a team environment and motivate team efforts to accomplish goals. * Well-developed interpersonal skills. * Well-organized; prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently * Strong analytical, technical and conceptual abilities. * Must be broadly focused and able to manage multiple efforts concurrently. * Results and profit-oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations. * Estimated 20% travel or as needed; sometimes of short notice, including international travel. * Proven change agent. * Ability to operate in a fast paced environment. * Ability to identify, institute and promote Continuous Improvement objectives.
