Chief Engineer   Employer: UGL Unicco Job Location: Arlington , VA Cash Compensation: Industry Type: Related Professions Job Description: UGL Unicco, a nationwide facilities management company, is seeking a Chief Engineer for a job site in northern Virginia.​ DUTIES: · Hands on supervision of assigned personnel, maintaining a safe and efficient work place · Maintain engineering systems and equipment, including boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, electrical distribution systems, generators, UPS systems, etc.​ · Constantly reinforce critical awareness to all employees and subcontractors working in, and supporting, critical facility operations · Provide leadership to establish a strong team relationship among employees, customers, business partners, subcontractors, and other vendors · Respond to emergency situations providing guidance to personnel ensuring rapid and effective situation recovery minimizing asset damage · Establish shift coverage schedules; develop, coordinate, and manage site labor, overtime, and material budgets · Determine, recommend, and manage site critical requirements.​ Assist in the capital planning process; plan, schedule, track, and report work accomplishment and cost estimate performance · Manage the day-to-day performance of personnel and subcontractors, including quality control evaluation and program management · Plan and schedule internal and subcontract work within budgetary constraints, quality standards, and established O&M guidelines · Coordinate with various departments concerning service needs · Review and process timesheets and invoices, as required · Oversee and coordinate all scheduled maintenance activities · Perform construction project review and assist with construction project inspections · Manage operations with a target operational goal of 100%​ uptime and reliability of the facility infrastructure supporting designated critical operations.​ · Lead and direct facility O&M personnel performing preventive, predictive, corrective, and general facilities maintenance activities · Perform other related duties as requested.​ QUALIFICATIONS: · A minimum of five to ten years of progressive and hands-on experience in an environment of similar proportions and mission as the assigned area of responsibility · A minimum of five years supervisory experience in O&M of large commercial office buildings, educational facilities, or manufacturing environments · Understands the business units’ requirement and the impact of critical system downtime on the customer’s business activities · Strong electrical and HVAC background in areas including boilers, UPS and emergency power systems · Ability to read and interpret facility blueprints and electrical schematics · Experience with Building Automated Systems · Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and regulations · Contract management experience helpful · Ability to organize, manage and direct staff and vendors in a fast paced environment · Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain composure under stressful emergency situations · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Computer literacy including a working knowledge of MS Project and the MS Office Suite, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) · A demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex problems associated with general construction, and maintenance/​repair of commercial facilities.​ · Possess an active Engineering License in DC, and/​or MD, and/​or VA (determined by location of services) Company Description: UGL Unicco delivers best-in-class facilities maintenance services to customers throughout North America in a wide variety of markets, including commercial/corporate, manufacturing plants, education, retail, financial institutions, government, public venues, and life sciences.
