Job Description: |
Crystal Cruises, a luxury cruise line Located in Century City, is seeking a professional with expertise in overall management of their Safety and Environmental Management System and compliance with safety and environmental laws and regulations. Manage administration of guest and crew injury and other claims for damages. Assist Sr. Vice President Marine Operations in administration of shipboard medical program.
Responsibilities include:
Manage all aspects of the company safety and environmental management system (SEMS).
Insure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
Oversee the development and revision of SEMS documentations.
Must be a certified internal ISM and ISO 14001 environmental auditor. Responsible for scheduling of internal/external audits of offices and ships to maintain ISM and ISO 14001 certification. Manage the company auditors and serve as the Lead Auditor for Internal audits of company office(s) and ships. Conduct internal audits at required intervals. Prepare checklists for internal SEMS audits. Oversee maintenance of audit records and electronic task lists.
Develop and maintain expertise in waste management to be the company expert including all types of solid waste, hazardous waste, air emissions, water discharges, etc. Develop and maintain expertise regarding various shipboard environmental hazards and use of personnel protective equipment.
Provide for environmental training at corporate office. Insure training records are maintained in conjunction with the HR department.
- ISM/ ISO 14001 Internal Auditor training and certification. On the job training for familiarization with cruise industry and ships as required. Additional professional continuing education available annually as needed to enhance skills and knowledge.
- B. S. degree in marine engineering, environmental management or related field preferred and 10 – 15 years experience in commercial marine industry; or minimum of 10 years experience as a licensed deck or engine officer of at least 3-stripes on commercial ships and 5 years shore side marine or similar experience.
- Experienced in managing people and projects, running meetings and getting assistance from internal and external parties.
- Certified Internal Auditor for ISM and ISO 14001 audits.
- In depth knowledge of safety and environmental laws and regulations applicable to ships.
- Multi-task management of a high volume workload, excellent written and verbal communications and excellent organizational skills.
- High proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and proficiency in PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
