Job Description: |
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the nation’s second largest school district, is seeking qualified candidate for the position of Deputy Director of Facilities Program Management.
LAUSD is a recognized leader in school construction in its award-winning designs, processes, and construction achievements. Our $27 billion new school construction and modernization program is the largest school construction program in the nation’s history.
The new Deputy Director of Facilities Program Management will serve as the Director of Facilities Program Management’s chief supporter by assisting in the daily operations of the branch. This person will also participate in the planning and organization of branch activities, handle highly sensitive or complex issues, and act for the Director as required.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and networking skills combined with an aggressive approach to facilities operations and construction. This person should also have experience in all aspects of program management of multiple, multi-year projects including tracking and managing time, budget, and schedule on each project and coordinating with all key stake holders.
LAUSD is looking for an individual who possesses the ability to cultivate and foster innovative ideas, analyze and resolve complex and sensitive issues, and build positive relationships within the organization and with a wide array of community stakeholders.
Entrance Qualifications
Ten years of experience including executive or administrative experience managing the program budget, finance, and controls related to large programs or projects in construction value in excess of $200 million involving construction of new facilities, or the planning and coordination of capital projects and/or facilities maintenance and/or operations. Experience in managing a staff responsible for the planning and implementation of large construction software applications system is preferable.
We also require a bachelor’s degree preferably with a major in architecture, engineering, planning, facilities management, construction management, finance, accounting or an advanced degree in any subject. Courses in business or public administration, public relations, accounting, school finance, personnel management and communications are preferable. A master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance is preferable.
