Job Description: Alcoa Davenport Works (Iowa) is part of Alcoa’s North America Rolled Products, and has served customers in a wide range of industries, including aerospace, building and construction, and automotive systems and distribution since 1948. Through the dedicated talent and energy of its employees, Davenport Works has enjoyed tremendous growth. Today, the plant is more than a mile long, and houses more than 130 acres of manufacturing under one roof.

The job of Human Resources Manager presents an excellent opportunity for a proven HR leader. We will look to you to partner and guide the leadership teams in translating business strategy into HR action that drives business results. Not only does the HR Manager support HR and labor activities at Davenport but also at smaller “satellite” plants in Danville, Illinois and Hutchinson, Kansas.

Specific responsibilities

•Lead change initiatives that create and maintain a work environment that is consistent with Alcoa values and Alcoa Business System (lean manufacturing) principles.
•Drive culture change from traditional “command and control” to semi-autonomous work systems.
•Advise and counsel managers, their staffs, and the HR staff on HR/labor issues and activities.
•Assess and manage overall relationships with local unions.
•Responsible for hiring and retaining a diverse workforce while establishing and maintaining an inclusive environment. Stay informed of local, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes governing equal employment opportunity practices.
•Understand and apply Alcoa Business System (lean manufacturing) concepts to HR systems and problem-solving.
•Recognize that accident prevention is equal in importance to production, quality, delivery, and cost control, and accept responsibility to work safely and to promote safety consciousness among fellow workers.
•Assure compliance with all applicable governmental and corporate regulations.
•Maintain a high level of quality, efficient HR services, to include:
*Staffing/selection
*Performance management
*Compensation and benefits
*Labor relations
*Training and development
•Lead efforts focused on creating a high level of performance throughout the entire rganization.
•Create efficiencies within the traditional HR services and roles.
•Anticipate and plan for future events and activities that will impact on the organization.
Basic Qualifications •Bachelor’s degree in HR, Labor Relations, or business-related field of study
•10 or more years of progressive HR generalist experience
•10 or more years of labor experience in a unionized plant
•10 or more years of management/leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications •Advanced college degree
•Change management and continuous improvement experience in a lean manufacturing environment
•SPHR, or PHR certification(s)
