This position, located in New York City, offers an exceptional opportunity for someone to serve as primary project manager for a new Cornell University campus in New York City through environmental review, site investigation, public approvals, design, and construction. Reporting to the Vice President for Facilities Services and Chief Administrative Officer of the tech campus, this position will: Plan, organize and be accountable for the overall direction and management of an extremely large and complex development project that will span 25 years. Lead project teams, including project coordinators, other project managers, university stakeholders, as well as AE firms, and third-party development partners. Manage major client relationships, and numerous other specialized areas of expertise that may be required. Create and be accountable for project scope, budgets, and schedules.
Qualifications: You will use your project and construction management expertise, combined with leadership skills, to advance this important project for the university and New York City. Other success factors you will need to be competitive for this position include: At least 10 years successful experience in managing capital design and construction projects in New York City. Significant experience with facility project management, design management, sustainability, and construction techniques, and a well-developed maturity in decision processes and leading/managing diverse teams with conflicting needs or requirements. Significant experience in managing land use approval processes, including outreach to elected officials, community groups, and governmental agencies. Bachelors degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective customer relationships within a team approach to project management. Ability to manage multiple complex projects with varying scope and multiple stages of completion. An assertive and collaborative individual capable of maintaining momentum of the project and driving it to successful conclusion in a politically sensitive manner.
