Position Description Collaborates with Engineering Quality Assurance to manage the architectural component of the entire new construction consultant base & cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics.
Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce. Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals.
Directs the development of new building formats. Drives the improvement and implementation of sustainable design features and alternative building systems into prototype design. Educates project stakeholders (for example, Design and Construction Managers, contractors, store Layout.
Leads continuous improvement activities for building format and prototype development. Oversees the management of external prototype consultants to ensure corporate prototypes and special projects comply with all federal, state, and local building codes (for example, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), international building code (IBC).
Provides overall direction for the Prototype and New Format Development, Architecture department. Reviews and advises architectural Managers with respect to the conceptual design of nonstandard store prototypes (for example, multilevel and flex). Reviews and advises expansion takeover Managers with respect to conceptual design of nonstandard store designs.
Minimum Qualifications * Bachelors Degree in Architecture or related field * Architectural License * Experience designing interior retail spaces for both customer and operations areas * Presentation experience with large groups and with high ranking management and company Executives * Proven ability to build relationships and credibility with leadership in other divisions of the company * Five (5) years experience creating and modifying construction documents and experience leading or piloting new format retail design concepts
Additional Preferred Qualifications * Experience fusing retail branding personalities with architectural design * Four (4) years experience permitting and project entitlement outside of Walmart * Experience working on New Stores and Remodel projects with Store Planning and Maintenance * Experience working with outside consultants and proven ability to give direction and manage teams outside of Walmart * Experience with retail lighting design * Experience working with GIS
