Representing contractors and related companies dedicated to the ideals of skill, integrity and responsibility, AGC NYS provides a variety of services and programs effectively organized to truly protect the interests of its members, including: AGC NYS Construction Industry Conference, construction advocacy, advocacy for economic development, education and training, labor negotiations, job letting information, public affairs, safety, publications, regulatory affairs, specification reviews, and general networking. Summary:

The individual in this position has overall responsibility for all aspects of the Association's operations. He/she is responsible for coaching, mentoring and managing a diverse group of professional staff associates ensuring that this team works together to meet the goals and mission established by the Association Leadership. The President/CEO is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with the goals and vision of the Association as well as its sound financial management.
Requirements - Demonstrated ability to lead and manage an association or similar group or activity.
- A thorough knowledge of, and experience with, the construction industry.
- Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining productive business relationships with public and private sector agencies and organizations, organized labor and allied business organizations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to identify and prioritize issues and challenges.
- A team player able to work with the Board, membership, staff, and outside interests to earn credibility as a knowledge base/resource for the Association.
- Excellent analytic and decision making skills, including the ability to articulate complex issues that affect the industry and recommend to the Board an appropriate course of action.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. required.

Management Expectations:

A high level of self-motivation, confidence and enthusiasm that will promote throughout the Association a positive attitude and a sense of urgency and purpose in goal achievement while making the Association the leading voice of the construction industry in New York State.
Responsibilities - Represent the Association values and vision at public events, serving as the face of AGC NYS with all public agencies, private sector constituents, organized labor, the membership, other aligned associations and organizations, constantly seeking to promote investment in its industry and fostering strategic alliances and strong working relationships.
- Represent the Association with government leaders at all levels, developing a keen understanding of how government works and effectively utilizing this knowledge to further the interests of the Association.
- Develop an annual budget and operating plan to be approved by the AGC NYS Board of Directors, providing monthly reviews of the plan against actual performance and recommending adjustments where necessary.
- Meet members on a regular basis to hear their concerns, to better understand their businesses and needs and to develop positive, engaging relationships with them.
- Promote the value of membership in AGC NYS to all potential members by visiting their businesses, inviting them to Association functions and demonstrating how membership in the Association can help them, particularly those in the downstate, mid-state and western portions of the state.
- Establish, in concert with the Board of Directors, pertinent accountabilities for this position and those positions reporting to the President/CEO.
- Develop and ensure compliance with procedures and policies that further the business of the Association.
