Job Summary
To provide oversight of C&W’s Critical Facilities Management Platform to ensure that our client locations and critical facility systems (non-IT and Network) are maintained and/or upgraded to C&W’s program standards; leading best practices and manufacturers’ recommendations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and reviewing data center operations and procedures to ensure that critical facility operations are protected from unexpected interruptions.
Principle Responsibilities
* Mechanical and electrical operations subject matter expert including: Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and Distribution, Emergency Power Supply (EPS) and Distribution, HVAC and Critical Cooling Systems, building control, fire suppression and general building systems.
* Responsible for reviewing existing, and developing new, technical engineering and operating standards for critical infrastructure.
* Partner with various C&W clients to understand their critical systems strategies and operations. Assist in the development of reliable and cost effective solutions, technical standards and policies that support client strategies.
* The successful candidate will work closely with C&W’s project, and transaction management teams as well as vendors and consultants to ensure a superior delivery of our facility and property management services.
* Focus on SOP and MOP operations with the ultimate goal of reliability and continuous availability (no downtime) for the critical business operations.
* Interface with internal C&W teams, external vendors and clients ensuring critical facilities are effectively and efficiently managed.
* Participate and/or lead due diligence activities and assist in the development of Service Level Agreements.
* Lead programs to ensure third-party vendors’ performance is achieving maximum return on service quality and cost effectiveness.
* Develop and communicate corrective and preventative maintenance programs for all critical building systems in partnership with external vendors. Continually audit existing critical systems operations to proactively identify weaknesses or potential problems.
* Lead the development of operational risk analysis and short to long term risk mitigation plans.
* Assist in further enhancing change control processes to ensure that clients are apprised of any risk and potential impact to their critical operations.
* Provide Business Continuity expertise for critical systems support, ensuring identification and testing of alternate suppliers, systems and equipment (including comprehensive documentation).
* Assist in the development of enterprise and building engineering standards, operational policies & procedures
* Partner with the design and project teams for the engineering design of all capital or operational upgrade projects (directing technical requirements to external consultants), support project team through all phases of project lifecycle.
* Maintain knowledge on the latest state-of-the-art research activities in areas of data center strategy and operations (i.e., 7X24 Uptime Network, EPA, Green Grid, ASHRAE, USGBC, etc.).
Qualifications
* A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or equivalent experience in a related field with an emphasis on data center / critical facility operations.
* A minimum of 10 years of experience in data center or critical facility management; expert knowledge of HVAC, high voltage switchgear, power quality protection, energy and load monitoring, UPS, EPS, BMS and security systems.
Required Skills
* Proficient with personal computers and PC based software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint; CMMS / Work Order Management Systems, Real Estate Accounting Systems
* Proven management experience in developing, communicating and implementing successful critical systems programs
* Excellent analytical skills and the ability to anticipate opportunities for business expansion.
* Must have a working knowledge of computer applications, such as database, spreadsheet, presentation, web authoring and word processing software and be able to learn new applications and systems.
* Exceptional oral and written communication skills are required. Must have technical writing skills and the ability to develop proposals and presentations.
