In 1992 ALHCO was one of the first civil and pipe laying contractors in the U.K. to certify to BS 5750 with a third party accreditation by SGS Yarsley, now ISO 9002. In 1995 the company created a number of specialist units to exploit opportunities in: ?ú the design, installation and maintenance service for gas pressure regular stations; ?ú work in the buried power and telecommunications cables; ?ú electrical metering activities; ?ú sewer rehabilitation In 1999 ALHCO acquired the Scottish-based contractor Almond Valley Partnership (AVP) that undertakes utility installations in Scotland and the North of England. Also in 1999 ALHCO acquired FLOWMOLE directional drilling business, the subsidiary provides in house "No-Dig" mains and servicelaying facility. However changes in market conditions have led ALHCO to discontinue the directional drilling activities. In 2000 ALHCO were awarded by Transco Connections a 5 year contract as the main contractor for the West Tranche and South LDZ areas.
