How should I explain leaving home care to return to workforce?

After several years of putting my construction career on hold to stay at home and raise the children, I want to re-enter the job market. Before the transition I was very successful with a marketing construction employer. I need some help in addressing this with construction employers as well. Some men and many women must put their family care before their career at times, and when they return to the market they must accept the consequences of being out of touch for a season. This might mean going one step backwards in your career to take two steps forward so that you can regain your acceptance with an employer. However most employers do not look down on a new hire for this departure from the work force, and will not limit a hire because of it.
