What is Construction Plumbing Engineer Job Description ?


RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific responsibilities of the Plumbing Engineer include, but are not limited to, the following:

Design
1. Design and lay out engineering drawings within Plumbing specialty.
2. Complete Plumbing calculations including water supply, storm, and equipment sizes.
3. Design Plumbing systems including sanitary waste, vent, storm, domestic water distribution systems, and purified water systems.
4. Design medical gas systems, compressed air, vacuum, and natural gas systems.
5. Designs, selects, schedules, sizes and specifies basic Plumbing system components to include plumbing fixtures, drains, and equipment.
6. Design and select fire protection systems and equipment.

Project Management
1. Assigns the final drafting to CAD Technicians.
2. Knowledgeable in consulting and construction practices to include plan/specifications, design/build and construction manager roles and responsibilities.
3. Specifies portions of the engineering system from manufacturers data and works to avoid the expense of inventing new designs.
4. Understands and applies state and local and model codes as related to buildings and Plumbing design.
5. Assists in preparing quantity and construction cost estimates as requested.
6. Works to meet design schedules and complete tasks on budget.
7. Capable of producing graphs, charts, overlays, plans, details, isometric and perspective drawings.
8. Assists in the review of shop drawing submittals as requested and posts modifications as needed.
9. Provides project information to staff and clients as requested through attendance at project meetings, e-mail, correspondence etc.
10. Prepares Plumbing for submittal to Department of Commerce.
11. Works to keep errors to a minimum by developing realistic schedules, and identifying, reacting and communicating immediately to symptoms before they become larger problems.
12. Assists in developing and maintaining Plumbing project schedules and budgets.
13. Assists in developing and maintaining project work plan and monitors team progress.
14. Assist with field work assignments.
15. Should continually review processes and make recommendations for improvement.
16. Carries out specific client development strategies as assigned by Marketing such as providing leads to management when possible.

Leadership
1. May act as day to day supervisor to CAD Technicians by assigning work, answering questions and checking work for accuracy
2. Consistently provides day to day encouragement and feedback when necessary so others can work together effectively, and execute activities in relation to importance, with virtually no conflict
