What is Construction Field Safety Director Job Description ?
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS
1. Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Management System applicable to safety activities and risks.
2. Train, coach and mentor operations leaders and safety professionals in the tools, programs and requirements of the Management System and safety programs
3. Establish, document and maintain minimum safety performance standards and specifications.
4. Effectively communicate and collaborate with central leadership, regional operations and teams to ensure safety strategies and programs align with corporate expectations and policies
5. Lead the Safety Emerging Issues Team to monitor, analyze, develop response recommendations/strategies and communicate safety related emerging issues.
6. Represent in industry organizations and agency processes designed to participate and influence regulatory and legislative activities
7. Lead and/or assist in the development of safety procedures, programs and training
8. Oversee or assist (depending on seriousness of impact or risk) the response and correction of significant safety events such as serious injury or illness, fatalities, regulatory action, negative press coverage, etc.
9. Maintain, monitor and continuously improve the safety modules of the Information Management database.
10. Develop, maintain and continuously improve the safety protocols, procedures and tools of the governance program (self-assessment, compliance assurance, audit).
11. Act as the safety auditor and audit leader and trainer/mentor of auditors-in-training.
12. Direct management industrial hygiene program including annual schedule development and management of industrial hygiene contract services.
