Job Description
Purpose Statement:
The job of CAD Operator is done for the purpose/s of producing blueprints using computer-aided design(CAD)software and hardware and providing a communication link between the internal construction department and external architects and engineers.
Essential Functions
Assists with scheduling utility company personnel to identify and mark location of utilities on school district property for the
purpose of providing accurate, detailed plans.
Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
Coordinates with architects, engineers, and construction department for the purpose of obtaining information on required
drawings.
Creates engineering and architectural drawings for proposed school district buildings for the purpose of providing plans
necessary for construction projects.
Creates scaled-down versions of building plans, which include identification of functions within building, for the purpose of
supplyng drawings for five-year plans.
Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.
Duplicates blueprints using district CAD equipment for the purpose of furnishing necessary copies of drawings.
Lifts up to 30 pounds unassisted for the purpose of lifting equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks.
Maintains basic plans of school district buildings and modifies drawings to reflect current configurations for the purpose of
ensuring accurate drawings are available when needed.
Maintains library of plans which indicate location of underground utilities for the purpose of ensuring access to such
information as needed.
Performs work at heights of up to 30 feet using extension ladder, hydraulic lift, or scaffolding for the purpose of completing
projects at heights not able to be reached when standing on the ground.
Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and conveying information.
Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs
efficiently.
Serves as liaison between construction department and architects/engineers for the purpose of ensuring communication
and conveying information between parties.
Transports various items (e.g., tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials
required at job site.
