Resignation, Firing & Termination Questions

I recently submitted a two-week resignation letter to my construction employer and I was told to leave my position immediately. Does this mean I was fired?

If an employer chooses to immediately terminate an employee who has submitted a 2-week notice, in essence, the employer has in fact terminated the employee provided the employee will not be compensated for the following two weeks. But remember, if the employer has changed the resignation to termination, the employee may now qualify to receive unemployment insurance benefits.
