Resignation, Firing & Termination Questions

Can you give me some advice on resigning with style, and professionalism.

Sometimes, folks get so wrapped up in a new offer, they forget their professionalism and responsibility to their employer. Here are some tips that will help:
Give a minimum two weeks notice. Depending on what type of job you have, and how many unfinished projects there are in your department, you may want to extend the notice to 4 ? 6 weeks.
It's ok to tell your family and friends and family who do not work with you, but whatever you do, DO NOT tell your co-workers. Rumors spread like wildfire in the workplace, and you may actually get fired before you even have a chance to formally announce your decision.
Many times people begin to slack when they know that they are going to be leaving a job. This is a huge mistake. You need to work extra hard because people are going to be keeping and eye on you and assuming that you are not producing, even though you may be. Be prepared to work hard the last couple of weeks, this will serve you well if you ever need a reference from that construction employer.
What ever you do, do not burn your bridges. First, it is a professional thing to do; second, you never know if by chance or business you will have to deal with that construction employer again. How could you ever conduct business with them if you left in haste?
Lastly, leave with grace- Express your thanks to your boss, to your co-workers, and to the construction employer
Nobody is going to remember your first day at the construction employer, except maybe for you. But nobody will forget the day you left.
