Should I ever give out my social security number over the phone?

Most construction employers won't need your social security number until you fill out a formal application or until they are filling out the paper work for hiring you. It is always a good idea to be careful about giving out your construction personal information over the phone. Be sure it is needed, and be sure you know to whom you are speaking.
